Amy Borghi has a PhD in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on Cognitive Neuroscience, an MAE in Special Education, and an MA in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Children and Adolescents. She obtained her BA in Psychology at UC Berkeley and attended Cal State Northridge where she played division one soccer on scholarship for three years. She currently teaches at Chaffey Community College where she has been a Guidance Instructor for over twenty years. Dr. Borghi specializes in teaching students on academic and progress probation and students in special populations such as those with special needs, athletes, foreign exchange students, and students working to obtain their G.E.D. As a psychologist, she has worked with adolescent sex offenders, adult and adolescent drug addicted clients, high-risk children and families, and was a counselor at a nonpublic school for students with special needs.
Dr. Borghi is currently a credentialed Education Specialist and the teacher of a special day class in early elementary school serving grades TK-3rd and has extensive prior experience as a substitute teacher. Her philosophy as a teacher is centered on adapting traditional academic content for non-traditional learners by creating hands-on lessons that help clarify student understanding using collaborative action, hands-on learning strategies, and creating explicit instruction for students that do not learn easily from implicit or implied teaching strategies. She strives to motivate students by making learning fun, interactive, and focuses on building skills that will help students navigate real-world situations. She is currently working on additional books focused on improving study skills and motivation in students and overcoming procrastination.

I have been facilitating hands-on learning strategies to teach concepts to students for the past 20 years as a college instructor. When students come to class, they know they are going to get to play, have fun, and learn!
